Earlier this week I posted about Backyard Bill and promised I’d share some of my favorites, having recently redone my links page. That said, I’d like to introduce you to Nova Style by Jillian Hobbs. I first met Jillian randomly over some noodles in Nolita and was started to check out her blog. She manages to find images and editorials I don’t see anywhere else on the web—not even on tumblr. Aside from the content, the layout is so inviting, clean and easy. There’s nothing worse than a blog with a terrible layout, blech. Take a look at Nova Style, add it your RSS and give her a follow here on tumblr as well.

I get a lot of questions about what to wear to weddings this season. I have been to my share of weddings and have seen the best/worst outfits. It's a beautiful occasion that is focused on a love of a separate couple so its respectful to not try to steal their thunder but that doesn't mean you have to ugly yourself out in a typical bridesmaid garment. There are some rules I personally go by:
  • Wear a classic dress in a trendy color (no white)
  • Keep accessories simple but stay true to your personality
  • Always have a bag big enough to hold the essentials but small enough to hold while dancing

kind of obsessed with this jacket right now ~ it's from the australian brand portmans, with whom i'm currently working on a fun, upcoming collaboration. and it looks good with everything i've tried. the curved hem (especially that oh-so beguiling back), the cropped sleeves, the lightly padded shoulders, the multi-seasonal weight.... all combine to create a little bit of perfect. this new dress ain't half-bad either; together, they feel appropriate for almost anything, while imbuing just the right amount of mystery.

Detail via Blog:
All I can say about this DIY is: love love LOVE. It's a redo of the first two eyeglass case clutches I made last year (here and here), but this one is my favorite by far. The general shape and build is inspired by the Alexander McQueen clutches, even though eyeglass/sunglass cases obviously weren't used in the original designs. I don't do as many designer DIY's as I used to - but when I thought of this, I knew I had to do it.

If you make your own clutch (whether the design is inspired by a McQueen clutch or is a style that's all you) you'll probably save a few thousand dollars.....just saying.

With all of the phenomenal talent that is being cranked out of Australia and New Zealand recently, we’ve been keeping a close eye on Australian Fashion Week. The past few days have been spent swooning over Karla Septic, Arnsdorf, Lisa HoBec & Bridge, and Zimmermann‘s covetable collections. But my favorite so far is Lover‘s romantic yet modern collection inspired by Chinese mythology. The delicate white, ivory, red and black lace ensembles make my knees weak! Simply dreamy . .
